Catherine tisse une relation intime entre le spectateur et l’environnement. S’appuyant sur une étude approfondie du site, elle crée des sculptures qui révèlent le caractère des lieux. Elle croise ses recherches avec celles des ethnobotanistes afin de mettre en lumière le concept de société végétale. Dans ses œuvres, les arbres et la nature, sont porteurs de mémoire et de sens. Dans un monde où tout est mouvement, elle nous incite à contempler le paysage.
Catherine weaves an intimate bond between the viewer and the environment. She studies the chosen site in depth and creates sculptures that reveal the true character of the places. She combines her research with that of ethnobotanists to highlight the concept of the vegetal society. In her work, the trees and nature carry with them memory and meaning. In a fast-moving world, she encourages us to stop and contemplate the landscape.

Canopée

La forêt de Courbanges, Saint-Victor-la-Rivière

L’œuvre s’appuie sur la communication entre les végétaux et renvoie aux questions environnementales de préservation des espaces arborés.
Ici, dans Canopée, la forêt nous accueille en nous offrant la possibilité de s’asseoir ou de s’allonger pour l’observer. Cette installation de miroirs suspendus mêle notre reflet à celui de la forêt et permet aux visiteurs de se lover dans un paysage boisé sur une structure aux
couleurs charnelles. Cette pause entre les arbres sollicite tous les sens et questionne notre relation avec la nature, elle nous permet d’en faire partie intégrante.

The artwork is centred around the communication between plants and raises environmental issues concerned with the preservation of wooded areas. Here, in Canopée, the forest greets the visitor and invites them to either sit or lie down to observe it. This installation of hanging mirrors combines our reflection with that of the forest, so that the visitor will feel completely integrated into the wooded landscape on a structure in natural colours. This moment in amongst the trees awakens all the senses and raises the question of our relationship with nature, allowing us to be at one with nature.
